I first loved Hope Ramsey's Last Chance series and I now know I'm going to enjoy her Chapel of Love series. Jeff and Melissa are perfect for each other. Melissa is a fun, quirky person I think Jeff fell in love with her from the moment he met her. Jeff is stubborn enough not to let Melissa run him off. This is just a fun short book. Some short stories feel rushed but I didn't really feel that way with this one. It would be fun to get to know them a little better but I often feel that way with longer novels. Like I am not ready to leave yet, I want to know more. But I think that means it's a good book, if you hate to put it down and not want it to end, it's pulled you in. This one does that!!

A Fairytale Bride A Short Story Chapel of Love edition by Hope Ramsay Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This is called a short story, but it is about 70 pages long plus an excerpt from the next book, so it felt more like novella length to me. I like this cute, sweet story. It is a romance with a pair of book-lovers, which is an adorable idea. Melissa's grandmother recently died, and she inherited two grumpy cats and an unprofitable used bookstore in her small hometown in the Virginia mountains. Melissa wants to keep the store, but she does not have enough money to pay the property taxes, and she is delaying her decision to sell the historic building to a rich, obnoxious woman. Jeff is a New York journalist whose career just went down the tubes, and he is hiding out in his dad's cabin near the same small town and trying to avoid his aunt, who happens to be the rich lady trying to buy Melissa's property. Both primary characters are at a crossroads in their lives trying to figure out what they want. The two meet, and the slowly growing romance is lovely. I also love the two cats in the book, who really have their own personalities.
Overall, the story was upbeat, heartwarming, and a little bit funny. I also liked that the deception and lying was kept to a minimum. The story left me with a happy feeling, and I am glad that I read it. I would recommend it to those who love contemporary romance and to those who love cats. FYI, the story is very low on the steamy scale since there is only kissing, and any lovemaking scenes are quickly ended with just a mention in the next chapter that sex happened.
I gave it four stars instead of five because the story did not leave me with a need to read more books by the author, Hope Ramsay. This is my first work of hers that I have read; while liked this story, Hope Ramsay did not get added to my list of my favorite authors. That is just my opinion, and other readers might love her books like crazy. Also, the secondary characters who were not cats did not interest me enough to want to read about them in another book.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me a free advanced reading copy in return for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Jeff Talbert-Lyndon decides to head to Shenadoah Falls, Virginia to try to escape from the world after a very public career disaster. Hiding out in the remote cabin he finds himself a bit stir crazy and ends up in the local book store where he meets Melissa Portman.
Melissa has been fighting what feels like a losing battle trying to keep her grandmother's store in business. When Jeff walks into her life and asks about a part time job she has to turn him down. Jeff however doesn't quite know how to take no for an answer and decides he's going to volunteer in the store.
A Fairytale Bride is a rather cute little novella featuring a love story about a couple who are both avid readers. As a reader myself I couldn't help but love the setting to this story but there's also a bit of a hitch to the couple's fairy tale when it turns out Jeff is related to the family trying to buy out the store.
I really liked both characters in here. Melissa with her store and cats she's inherited has a rather quirky vibe to her and Jeff is the good guy who is trying to distance himself from a not so nice family. A good mix of chemistry, drama and even a bit of humor here and there in this story.
Overall, nice characters and a nice setting in this short little romance read, definitely one I enjoyed.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Short but a really cute light story.
A fun fast read, great start to a new series.
Quick read. Nice introduction to the follow-up book.
Not enough to really appreciate the characters but they become more
real in the Christmas book.
Love Hope Ramsay books. Great writer who tells a great story about the intertwined small town life. Love the real things that we all go through and can relate to her characters as well. Love the fun and quirkiness of her stories that make you feel like you could be friends with them.
